A Haivision Case Study
Poker Central, operator of the PokerGO streaming service, faced a challenge to streamline production for the 50th World Series of Poker: avoid hauling full mobile studios and speed up turnaround while supporting global distribution. For the WSOP site workflow, Poker Central turned to Haivision and its Makito video encoders to enable a new remote editing workflow that would let them move footage offsite in real time instead of transporting drives back to the studio.
Haivision deployed Makito X encoders/decoders and rack chassis to synchronously backhaul 12 channels from the Rio to Poker Central’s Aria post facility for direct ingest into their MAM and edit bays. The solution let editors start cutting while broadcasts were still live, producing four 44-minute TV episodes for CBS and saving roughly 36 hours of cumulative turnaround time, while reducing rack-space needs and providing flexible, low‑latency SRT-enabled feeds for future remote productions.
