A Haivision Case Study
Game Creek Video, a 25‑year broadcast services company, faced the need to rework live production during the COVID‑19 pandemic when social distancing prevented traditional crowded OB truck workflows. Broadcasters and leagues required remote production over the public internet (no dedicated fiber) and the ability to keep production staff and on‑air talent in separate locations. To meet that challenge Game Creek turned to Haivision, experimenting with Haivision’s SRT streaming protocol and tools such as the Haivision SRT Gateway, Play Pro app, and Makito encoders/decoders.
Haivision’s low‑latency SRT solution and Makito devices were deployed in distributed announcer kits and an IP remote‑production workflow (now part of Game Creek’s GCV Anywhere), enabling secure, real‑time bidirectional video over the public internet. The Haivision setup supported NCAA basketball coverage, CBS’s 2020 Masters (with nine distributed announcer kits), and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, letting producers and talent collaborate from home while preserving live interactivity and production quality—with monitoring via Haivision Play Pro and reliable low latency that made remote commentary feel seamless.
