How AUDIO2 is using SRT and Haivision Remote Production to Make Accessibility Reliable and Adaptable

AUDIO2, a specialist in audio description and subtitling serving broadcasters across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, faced a practical hurdle: getting reliable live video feeds to its remote teams. Sending staff to studios was costly and time-consuming, and early streaming via RTMP suffered frequent dropouts and audio/video desynchronization. To scale live accessibility work and respond quickly to urgent broadcasts, AUDIO2 needed a dependable, low‑latency transport — and partnered with Haivision to address it.

Haivision supplied Makito X encoders/decoders, an SRT Gateway and the Haivision Play app, using the SRT protocol to protect against jitter, packet loss and bandwidth fluctuation. The result was stable, low‑latency streams that eliminated prior dropouts and sync issues, enabled home‑based workflows during the COVID lockdown, and allowed AUDIO2 to remotely produce simultaneous live subtitles and audio descriptions (for example ARD’s “Immer wieder Sonntags”) from Vienna, Berlin and Hamburg. Haivision’s solution made live accessibility reliable and adaptable, reduced travel needs, and let AUDIO2 accept urgent live requests with confidence.
