Haivision Technology Keeps Fox Sports’ NASCAR Coverage on Track

FOX Sports 1 faced the challenge of resuming live NASCAR coverage while minimizing on-site staff to protect health and safety during the COVID-19 reopening. They needed a low-latency, reliable, and bandwidth-efficient remote-production solution, and selected Haivision’s Makito X video encoders/decoders and the Haivision SRT Gateway to enable those remote workflows.

Haivision deployed Makito X encoders/decoders and the SRT Gateway to transport 16 live race feeds over private and public networks to Fox’s centers in Los Angeles and Charlotte, enabling remote replay, graphics, production, and executive monitoring. The solution eliminated the typical 8–12 second satellite delay, reduced bandwidth usage, let a much smaller crew operate the mobile unit, and was delivered from concept to on-air in under three weeks — outcomes made possible by Haivision’s technology and professional services.
