Case Study: Camcast achieves reliable, low-latency live election streaming to hundreds of thousands with Haivision

A Haivision Case Study

Preview of the Camcast Case Study

Fueling Live Streaming Coverage of the German Federal Election

Camcast, a production and live-streaming company, was engaged by BILD to produce live coverage from the Berlin campaign headquarters of four parties during the German Federal Election. To get high-quality, low-latency video from remote HQs into the BILD production center over public internet and wireless links, Camcast needed a reliable internet-based streaming solution and turned to Haivision (using Makito X and KB encoders and SRT technology).

Haivision supplied Makito X encoders/decoders, the KB internet encoder and SRT transport to deliver low-latency, reliable streams from the CDU, SPD, FDP and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen headquarters into BILD’s production center; the finished feed was sent to a CDN and streamed on BILD.de, Facebook Live and YouTube Live. The result: hundreds of thousands of live viewers tuned in to watch first reactions and candidate interviews, demonstrating Haivision’s ability to provide flexible, cost-effective internet-based video transport for live news workflows.
