Fox Sports delivers MLB remote production with Haivision in under half a second of latency

Fox Sports, a major sports broadcaster, faced the challenge of producing live Major League Baseball (MLB) coverage while adhering to strict safety guidelines that prevented commentators and analysts from being on-site at the stadiums or even together in their Los Angeles broadcast center. They needed a way to deliver multiple, real-time video feeds to their distributed talent with extremely low latency to ensure natural, synchronized commentary. Fox Sports turned to Haivision and its SRT Gateway and Makito X4 video decoders to solve this remote production challenge.

Haivision's solution enabled Fox Sports to send high-quality, low-latency video streams from the ballparks to their central LA studio and then onward via SRT to commentators located in personal studios across the country. The result was a highly successful remote production workflow with less than half a second of latency, allowing for real-time commentary that was indistinguishable from an on-site broadcast. This Haivision-powered "Production Anywhere" model allowed Fox Sports to safely broadcast approximately 30 MLB games, leveraging the best talent regardless of location and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality content to viewers.
