Diamond Aircraft Chooses Haivision Video Technology for Turnkey Special Mission Aircraft

Diamond Aircraft, the Austria‑based manufacturer of the DA42 and DA62 special mission platforms, needed a cost‑efficient, future‑proof way to deliver live video from airborne sensors without relying on expensive VSAT links. To solve constrained backhaul over line‑of‑sight networks (MIMO, MANET), Diamond Aircraft partnered with Haivision and integrated Haivision Makito X encoders, Kraken CR transcoders, plus the Haivision Media Gateway and Media Platform — leveraging HEVC compression and the SRT protocol for low‑latency streaming.

Haivision’s solution placed encoders and transcoders on the aircraft and complementary gateway/transcoding systems in the ground station, enabling reliable, low‑bitrate video transport (down to about 100 kbps) over limited bandwidth links. The Haivision deployment delivered turnkey, certified ISR capability with global support and now underpins more than 100 MPP Special Mission Aircraft in operation, improving cost efficiency and realtime video performance for Diamond Aircraft customers worldwide.
