BP Uses Haivision to Deliver Synchronized Live HD Video to Desktops and Displays on the Trading Floor

BP, a global energy company with major trading floors, needed to give traders synchronized, real‑time audio and HD video across LCD displays and personal PCs while minimizing bandwidth on the facility LAN. To meet this challenge BP evaluated solutions and selected Haivision, leveraging products such as Mako and Makito H.264 encoders, the Furnace IP video distribution system, Stingray set‑top boxes and the InStream player.

Haivision implemented and lab‑tested a video‑over‑IP system—18 Makito/Mako encoders feeding the Furnace, 80 Stingray set‑top boxes behind 80 displays and InStream players to over 1,000 desktops—using multi‑bitrate streaming and InStream’s bi‑directional sync to ensure perfect audio/video alignment. The deployment delivers 16 channel feeds plus live cameras to traders from anywhere in the building, automates daily management, and now serves 1,000+ desktops and 80 displays with a flexible, low‑maintenance platform.
