Case Study: The Bank strengthens mobile banking security with HackerOne Bounty

A HackerOne Case Study

Preview of the The Bank Case Study

How a next-generation mobile bank protects millions of customers by embracing hacker-powered security as an essential component of its cybersecurity strategy

The Bank, a German-based mobile bank serving over 3.5 million customers, faced the significant security challenge of protecting its rapidly growing platform and billions in transactions from highly targeted cyber threats. To augment its security-first approach, the bank partnered with HackerOne to launch a private bug bounty program, embracing hacker-powered security as an essential component of its strategy.

Through the HackerOne Bounty solution, the bank engaged a dedicated community of over 2,500 security researchers who submitted more than 100 valid vulnerability reports. HackerOne enabled the bank to build strong relationships with researchers, resulting in pivotal security findings. The program paid over €33,000 in bounties, with a top reward of €2,700, and successfully justified its value by discovering high-impact issues that protected millions of customers.
