How to hire freshers without setting foot on a college campus

L&T Infotech, a top-five IT services provider in India with over 20,000 employees, needed to hire more than 100 freshers without following traditional on-campus recruitment. To expand geographic reach and increase the number of screened candidates while assessing JAVA, .NET, shell scripting, DBMS and problem‑solving skills, L&T Infotech partnered with HackerEarth to run a customized open hiring challenge via HackerEarth’s hiring platform and assessment service.

HackerEarth managed the end-to-end virtual contest: a 2.5‑hour test with MCQs and programming problems on data structures, algorithms, shell scripting, OS, OOP and reasoning, backed by advanced proctoring (opcode‑level plagiarism detection and keystroke recording) and outreach to colleges. The campaign screened 9,000+ candidates in just three weeks, shortlisted 1,700, saved over 6,000 man‑hours, and reached participants from 26 of 29 states, 3 union territories and 650+ universities — all delivered by HackerEarth.
