A HackerEarth Case Study
Amazon wanted to accelerate adoption of voice-first experiences for Alexa and educate developers in India to build certified Alexa skills. To do this, Amazon partnered with HackerEarth and leveraged the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) to run the Alexa Skills Hackathon, aiming to crowdsource a wide range of voice apps that showcase Alexa’s capabilities and meet certification requirements.
HackerEarth ran the event on its platform and tapped its 1.9 million-strong developer community, managing submissions and evaluation end-to-end. The hackathon generated 4,380 registrations, 3,757 teams, 807 idea submissions and produced 84 new live Alexa skills (29% games), with three winners promoted on the Amazon Alexa store—demonstrating HackerEarth’s ability to quickly convert community ideas into measurable additions to the Alexa Skills ecosystem.
