Managed Healthcare Insurance Provider Company - Customer Case Study

Managed Healthcare Insurance Provider Company, a Fortune 100 healthcare insurer with more than 48,000 employees and 23 million members, was struggling with an overloaded SOC, rising SIEM costs, and growing concerns around insider threats and privileged access abuse across on-premises and cloud environments. Gurucul’s Risk Analytics platform (GRA) was brought in to provide stronger identity and access analytics, UEBA, and risk-based visibility across its security stack.

Gurucul implemented a two-phase Gurucul Risk Analytics deployment, starting with identity analytics to discover outlier, orphan, dormant, and privileged accounts, then adding UEBA for anomaly detection, case management, and insider threat monitoring. The results included discovery of 70% unknown privileged accounts, a reduction in daily alerts from 30,000 to 10, 80% less password usage, and lower data storage costs by shifting data from SIEM to an open data lake, while also cutting investigation time by 50%.
