Semacc, a Costa Rican mobile device distributor operating retail displays in San Jose, faced repeated thefts of smartphones from its salesroom. Working with vendor Gurtam, Semacc deployed Gurtam’s tracking products (Wialon Hosting and the WiaTag app) to protect display devices and monitor goods in real time.

Gurtam’s solution created geofences around the mall, installed WiaTag on phones, and used Wialon to request device locations and notify staff as soon as a phone left the assigned area. As a result, Semacc now tracks phones 24/7, reacts immediately to thefts, and recovered more than $30,000 in goods within six months.
