Preview of the Electric Power Development Company Case Study

Improving maintenance of the electricity network in the Middle East

Electric Power Development Company (EPDC), the Tavanir subsidiary that runs low- and medium-voltage networks and the 121 emergency services department, struggled with a manual phone‑and‑radio dispatch process that caused incorrect incident details, wrong locations, long delays, missed subscribers and no productivity reporting. To modernize operations, EPDC engaged Gurtam (via partner GGRCO) and adopted the Wialon Local telematics platform to address these issues.

Gurtam’s Wialon Local–based solution, implemented with GGRCO and Teltonika trackers, automated task creation from subscriber calls, used priority‑based matching to assign the best field team, and provided an Android app and end‑to‑end tracking and reporting for 500 teams. The overhaul cut average resolution time by 35% (from 101 to 66 minutes), reduced travel time to incidents by up to 80% (from 3–5 minutes to 0–1 minute), produced detailed daily/monthly reports, lowered wrong dispatches, and proved scalable for EPDC’s 1 million subscribers with a planned nationwide rollout.
