A Gurtam Case Study
Geoservice, a Russian long‑haul transportation integrator, was hired to protect an importer’s freight containers from unauthorized use and heavy damage that can cost upwards of $2,000 per container. Tracking was difficult because containers lack power, endure extreme weather, transit weak‑signal areas, and offer no safe internal mounting points; to solve this challenge Geoservice used Gurtam’s Wialon Hosting platform as the central monitoring tool.
Geoservice developed a custom, weatherproof tracker with 3D‑printed hermetic housing, high‑capacity Li‑Po batteries (up to 180 days autonomy), international roaming SIMs, Wi‑Fi fallback, RFID/BLE identification and tamper sensors, and integrated alerts and geofences through Gurtam’s Wialon Hosting. The Gurtam-enabled solution now monitors over 100 containers worldwide, withstands −40 to +80 °C, helps the client file damage claims, reduces unauthorized use and replacement costs, and provides continuous location and event data.
