How Rocket Companies Transformed an Unused Tuition Benefit into a World-Class Career Growth Program

Rocket Central, a Detroit-based professional services company that supports the Rock Family of Companies, faced very low participation in its tuition reimbursement program because enrollment was manual and many team members couldn’t pay upfront. To remove these barriers it partnered with Guild Education to launch Rock Academy — an employer education benefit that connects team members to learning providers and streamlines access to career-aligned programs.

Working with Guild Education, Rocket Central implemented Rock Academy’s upfront tuition assistance (100% tuition for in-network programs), developed career pathways, launched the 20-week DevBuild software-engineering program, and added THRIVE career coaches. The results include a roughly 500% increase in tuition-assistance participation within 16 months, over 1,000 team members accepted into courses in the first year, and more than 60 DevBuild graduates placed as software engineers (95% placement rate).
