A GuideSpark Case Study
Corning, a Fortune 500 leader in materials science and manufacturing with about 40,000 employees, needed a better way to communicate benefits and reinforce a culture of health and safety after introducing a tobacco surcharge. Reaching a dispersed, largely manufacturing workforce with limited computer access—and engaging a growing Millennial population—made traditional mailers and passive enrollment ineffective, leaving employees uninformed and HR spending heavily on low-return communications.
Corning partnered with GuideSpark to deliver short, branded multimedia content across multiple channels (video libraries, mobile directory, intranet, Yammer, QR-enabled posters and cafeteria displays) and added gamification to boost attention and action. The new approach increased employee engagement, improved enrollment in HDHP and HSA plans, cut benefits communication costs, and freed budget to invest in higher-impact content and mobile tools that support the company’s total health goals.
