Case Study: University of Oregon achieves 100% orientation app adoption and cuts printed materials with Guidebook

A Guidebook Case Study

Preview of the Oregon Case Study

University of Oregon uses Guidebook to build a deeply rich guide for new students

The University of Oregon, which welcomes about 5,000 new students each year, faced a paper-heavy orientation process that produced roughly 31,000 printed pages and didn’t take advantage of students’ ubiquitous smartphones. The challenge was to reduce waste, centralize schedules, maps and contact info, and give students lasting access to orientation resources beyond the event.

The university built a branded University of Oregon Events App using Guidebook as a pilot for new student orientation, packing it with curated content, custom icons and photos, interactive maps, feedback tools and social integration. The guide achieved about 6,800 downloads for roughly 4,500 attendees (≈100% student adoption), engaged parents, reduced printing, and created a scalable platform for future events like Homecoming and Commencement.
