Case Study: Strathcona County achieves increased resident engagement and simplified recreation scheduling with Guidebook

A Guidebook Case Study

Preview of the Strathcona County Case Study

Strathcona County uses Guidebook to to connect its residents to fun

Strathcona County, Alberta (population ~92,000) needed a better way to keep residents informed about its extensive Recreation, Parks and Culture programming—four recreation centres, a wilderness centre and a packed, multi-venue schedule made paper and web listings hard to navigate. The department sought a mobile solution to deliver timely, easy-to-use schedules and event information to residents on the go.

They adopted Guidebook to create multiple mobile guides (drop-in recreation, parks, Canada Day, New Year’s Eve, etc.), using features like color-coded master schedules, venue/type filters, My Schedule, push notifications and offline access. The platform’s ease of use, annual subscription model and responsive support let staff build guides quickly; promotion via web, social and QR codes drove strong adoption (about 4,500 downloads for the drop-in guide and 4,700 for the Canada Day guide), simplifying scheduling and boosting resident engagement.
