EnVision e-Learning and Simulations to Fill Workforce Skills Gap

Dakota Gasification Company (DGC), the operator of the Great Plains Synfuels Plant in Beulah, North Dakota, faced a growing workforce skills gap as many experienced operators retired and new hires needed to be brought up to speed quickly. To address this challenge, DGC worked with GSE Solutions and its EnVision e-learning tutorials and simulations as part of an Entry2Expert training approach.

GSE Solutions implemented self-paced tutorials, real-time simulation models, and training program development support to help DGC teach fundamentals, practice normal and critical operations, and improve troubleshooting and malfunction recovery. The program was designed to shorten the learning curve and reduce the time needed to produce proficient console operators, while also giving DGC a reusable training platform for future refreshers and new employees at any level.
