Case Study: Doosan improves gasification design and startup readiness with GSE Solutions’ JPro™ simulator

Doosan Gasification Plant Uses JPro for Engineering

Doosan worked with GSE Solutions to prepare for startup of a gasification plant and needed a way to study how key operating parameters would affect the coal gasification process and plant design. GSE provided JPro process simulation software and engineering services to support pre-commissioning analysis and future process and design improvement.

GSE Solutions implemented a high-fidelity simulator covering five gasification units, including coal feeding, gasification, slag discharge, dry solid removal, and wet scrubbing systems. The model was used for operational testing such as cold startup, shutdown, load changes, abnormal conditions, emergency events, and performance tests, helping Doosan improve design parameters, support R&D, and troubleshoot more efficiently. Doosan reported that the GSE engineering tool allowed them to predict gasifier behavior efficiently in R&D studies.
