Canada’s First Private Nuclear Generator Chooses GSE for Simulator Upgrades

Bruce Power, Canada’s first private nuclear generator, needed to upgrade the simulators for units 2 and 3 at its Bruce A generating station to provide more realistic and dynamic operator and instructor training. GSE Solutions was selected to deliver the simulator upgrade, using high-fidelity predictive models and simulation tools for the project.

GSE Solutions replaced key plant models with RELAP5-HD, REMARK, and JTopmeret, and integrated SimExec with the Western Services 3KEYMASTER platform to improve simulation authoring. GSE also completed on-site testing and scenario support, and the upgraded simulators were delivered successfully on time, on budget, and on spec, eliminating technical deficiencies and enabling Bruce Power to train for new scenarios that were not possible before.
