DCNM to NDFC Migration for a Major U.S. Health Insurance Company

The customer, a major U.S. health insurance company, faced operational challenges managing its complex data center network with Cisco's Data Center Network Manager (DCNM). Daily tasks like new VLAN deployments were cumbersome and time-consuming, and managing multiple fabrics was difficult. These issues consumed excessive personnel resources, limiting progress on other projects and negatively impacting business objectives. The company engaged vendor Gruve for a migration to Cisco's Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC).

Gruve executed a successful migration from DCNM to NDFC for the customer's production environment. The solution included validating switch versions, testing configuration exports, and deploying best-practice configurations for operational simplicity. As a result, the customer was able to perform day-to-day operations with ease and established a path to eliminate the need for an Arista CVP deployment. Gruve also provided the customer with documented processes to repeat the successful migration for their other network fabrics.
