IAF Facilitator shares workshop and online facilitation techniques for effective brainstorming

Col-Lab, a consultancy, was engaged by SICAD to facilitate the Annual National Forum on Alcohol and Health. Their challenge was to motivate participants and foster collaboration among members who typically worked independently, with the specific goal of brainstorming how to evolve the commercial communication of alcoholic drinks in sports. To achieve this, the facilitator from Col-Lab employed GroupMap, a digital facilitation tool, to structure the workshop and gather input efficiently from over 50 attendees.

Using GroupMap's blank templates, the facilitator designed a streamlined process for the forum's sessions. The tool enabled a large group to discuss, collect, and categorize ideas in under 60 minutes, a task that would have been impractical manually. The result was an overwhelmingly positive response from participants, who praised the engaging and unique session format. GroupMap was also critical for generating instant reports and for supporting remote facilitation, allowing the vendor to conduct effective workshops from a different location.
