Facilitation Tools and Techniques for Critical Thinking at a Teacher’s PD Workshop

Teach For Australia used GroupMap to support a week-long professional development program for 80 associates and 3 facilitators. Their challenge was to keep participants engaged across multiple concurrent sessions while making it easy to share resources, capture ideas, and support critical, collaborative thinking.

Using GroupMap’s customizable templates, scheduling maps, shared resource pages, brainstorming tools, and voting features, Teach For Australia ran breakout activities, pitch sessions, and collaborative resource sharing in real time. The result was stronger participation, a shared library of teaching resources, faster planning, and useful reporting for facilitators, including data on how many ideas each participant contributed; Teach For Australia also continued using GroupMap after the workshop as an ongoing resource depository and discussion space.
