Derby Museums moves stakeholder workshops online in 14-day free trials with GroupMap

Derby Museums, which manages three public museums in the UK, needed to move its collaborative, human-centered design workshops and stakeholder sessions online during the pandemic. Their challenge was to find a digital platform that could effectively replicate their in-person, post-it note driven facilitation and maintain their co-production methodology without being too restrictive or too chaotic. They turned to GroupMap after trying other tools like Miro and Mural.

GroupMap provided an intuitive online workshop platform with templates for empathy mapping, brainstorming, and value proposition exercises. The solution allowed facilitators to plan sessions effectively, see participant contributions in real time, and engage groups of 10 to 50 people. The results were highly successful, with participants finding the tool easy and enjoyable to use. GroupMap helped Derby Museums achieve collaborative planning, continue their human-centered design activities, and even deliver sector teaching, leading them to adopt the tool for ongoing internal projects and external partnerships.
