Case Study: Swiss Life achieves six-figure annual cost savings and unified, expanded monitoring with GroundWork Monitor Enterprise (GroundWork)

A GroundWork Case Study

Preview of the Swiss Life Case Study

Cost Savings and Expanded Monitoring Functionality

Swiss Life, a leading Swiss life-insurance and pensions group serving over a million customers and employing 7,500 people, relied on an end-of-life Big Four monitoring platform that required an expensive OS migration and high ongoing licensing and maintenance costs. With about 1,000 servers in Zurich and critical services for employees and field staff, IT needed to reduce licensing, support and operational expenses while maintaining or improving monitoring functionality and reliability.

Swiss Life selected GroundWork Monitor Enterprise and implementation partner RealStuff to replace the legacy tool in under six months. The new platform unified monitoring across Windows, Linux, AIX, Oracle, VMware, SAP, network and storage, integrated Cacti and BMC Remedy, and retired SCOM. Operations became simpler and more transparent, with improved reports, dashboards, faster root-cause analysis and centralized capacity planning—while delivering a six-figure annual saving in licensing and maintenance.
