Case Study: ERMCO ECI cuts read errors and maintenance with Grosvenor Technology HCM terminals

A Grosvenor Technology Case Study

An upgrade to HCM terminals from Grosvenor Technology increased productivity and prevented buddy punching

ERMCO ECI, one of the largest producers of oil-filled transformers in the USA, was struggling with a high number of false reads and bottlenecks at shift changes caused by an outdated time and attendance system. Grosvenor Technology identified that the existing palm readers were failing because of dirty or damaged fingerprints in the manufacturing environment, while swipe cards were not a suitable option because the HR team wanted to avoid buddy punching.

Grosvenor Technology replaced the faulty readers with modular HCM terminals featuring a robust biometric reader and PIN-based backup authentication for employees without usable fingerprints. The new solution reduced read failures and queues by over 50%, lowered maintenance and repair needs, and gave management remote diagnostics and easier administration, improving productivity and simplifying clock-in and clock-out processing across the workforce.
