Case Study: LinkedIn achieves 84t CO2 reduction and $100,000 OPEX savings with Gridium analytics

A Gridium Case Study

Preview of the LinkedIn Case Study

LinkedIn Uses Data Analytics to Lower Carbon Emissions by 84t of CO2 and OPEX Costs by an estimated $100,000

LinkedIn needed to control electricity costs and maintain world-class occupant comfort across more than one million square feet of diverse office space in Northern California—ranging from suburban campuses to a new downtown tower—with varied building vintages, 24/7 tech occupancy patterns, and the complexity of a major move.

Gridium implemented cloud-based analytics (Snapmeter, Billcast, RCx) with no onsite hardware, providing weekly load-curve alerts, peak-demand forecasts, and automated bill-rate analysis. Over a 12-month program this uncovered nearly $50k in rate optimizations and about $50k from baseload and demand management, cut one building’s nightly baseload by 70 kW, smoothed demand spikes, and delivered an 84 tCO2 reduction and an estimated $100,000 in OPEX savings.
