Cyber Dust Leverages GridGain In-Memory Computing Platform for Reliable Real-Time Delivery of Disappearing Text Messages

Cyber Dust, a Mark Cuban‑funded mobile messaging startup, built an app for disappearing texts that are never stored on disk to protect user privacy. With more than half a million users sending millions of messages a day, the company needed a real-time, highly available and scalable solution that could process and delete messages from RAM rather than writing them to persistent storage.

Cyber Dust selected the GridGain In-Memory Data Fabric to keep messages in RAM, enable fast delivery, and ensure irrecoverable deletion after reading. GridGain also improved reliability and failover, supported deployment on Amazon EC2, and accelerated the app’s “Blast” broadcasts—generating messages to over 300,000 contacts in under 30 seconds—while meeting the app’s performance and privacy goals.
