ChronoTrack Chooses GridGain® for Real-Time Race Updates and Reduces Lag Time Significantly

ChronoTrack, a Life Time Fitness subsidiary that supports about 80% of the world’s races and 25 of the 30 largest U.S. races, needed to deliver accurate, real-time rankings as thousands of runners passed course checkpoints. The sheer volume of RFID timestamps and the need to recalculate standings instantly created unacceptable lag unless compute jobs could be distributed and load-balanced across servers.

ChronoTrack deployed the GridGain In-Memory Data Fabric to run computations on the grid nodes where the RFID data lands, enabling distributed processing, automatic load balancing and built-in failover. The integration was fast, and results improved dramatically: publish lag fell from as much as five minutes to consistently under ten seconds, while accuracy, availability and scalability were all increased.
