GridBeyond connected Outokumpu's electric arc furnaces to its intelligent energy platform to participate in frequency response programmes. This solution provided the National Grid with 14.3MW of annual energy flexibility. Within months, Outokumpu began receiving monthly revenue for its role in balancing the energy network, all while lowering its energy costs and maintaining its standard operational processes.
