Grid Dynamics partnered with World-Leading Manufacturer of Electronic Components to build an application for tracking component lifecycles, demand, delivery timelines, and to calculate associated costs and risks. The customer’s priorities were fast time-to-market, rapid scalability, and lower infrastructure costs, so Grid Dynamics proposed a serverless FaaS approach using AWS Lambda with Node.js to support short development cycles and flexible scaling.

Grid Dynamics implemented a serverless architecture (API Gateway, AWS Lambda with Node.js, Amazon RDS, and an ElastiCache Redis read-through cache), tuned package sizes, enabled provisioned concurrency, and added API Gateway caching. These changes cut Lambda initialization time from ~2 seconds to under 1 second, improved development velocity and scalability, and reduced operational costs for long-running and variable workloads through caching and pay-per-use execution.
