A GRESB Case Study

Preview of the Sino Land Company Limited Case Study

Revolutionizing waste management Sino Land’s circular innovation in Hong Kong

Sino Land Company Limited, a leading property developer in Hong Kong, faced significant waste management challenges, including approaching landfill capacity and new government waste charging schemes. To address this and meet its broader ESG goals, the company utilized the GRESB Real Estate Assessment to benchmark and guide its sustainability performance.

Partnering with a local startup, GRESB member Sino Land implemented a circular solution that transforms plastic waste into durable construction materials known as EcoBricks. This initiative has upcycled over 22 tonnes of plastic waste into 73,000 bricks deployed across its properties. These efforts, alongside its comprehensive ESG strategy, contributed to Sino Land achieving a GRESB 5-star rating and first place in its Asia Pacific peer group in 2023.
