Iron Mountain Sees Fleet Wide Improvement After Implementing Greenroad’s Solution

Iron Mountain, a global leader in information management with a 450-vehicle fleet and 500+ drivers, needed to further reduce risk, safety incidents, operating costs and meet Health & Safety obligations. To lower insurance premiums and improve driver behavior, Iron Mountain partnered with Zurich and deployed GreenRoad Technologies’ Driver Behavior and Fleet Performance Solution across its fleet.

GreenRoad Technologies implemented an in-cab coaching and fleet performance system that gave full fleet visibility and real-time driver alerts; after a 2010 pilot Iron Mountain recorded a ~14% increase in MPG, an 80% reduction in risky maneuvers and an 80% reduction in incidents versus the previous year, with just three minor claims over ten months. Rolling the solution to 430 HGVs/LCVs and 500+ drivers (adding GreenRoad’s Idling Performance Management and Posted Speed features) produced roughly 15% overall fuel savings (idling reductions of 2–5%), ongoing incident reductions (~13%) and a 40% drop in own-damage costs.
