GreenRoad’s digital tools help Singapore’s Tower Transit halve accidents and improve driving habits

Tower Transit, a bus operator that expanded into Singapore after beginning in the UK, faced unacceptably high accident and safety-incident levels and wanted to improve fuel efficiency and driver behavior. In 2016 it deployed GreenRoad Technologies’ GreenRoad Drive™ telematics and supporting tools and introduced a driver rewards scheme to reduce incidents and incentivize safer driving.

GreenRoad Technologies fitted in-vehicle telematics with RFID driver IDs, continuous monitoring, a colour-coded in-cab alert panel, end-of-trip scoring and a mobile app, plus coaching and monetary rewards for low scores. Within a year safety incidents were halved, ‘red’ high-risk drivers fell from 15% to 2%, total collisions dropped about 50% and driver-caused accidents plunged nearly 70%.
