Ffoshelig, a Welsh bus and coach operator, had been using GreenRoad Technologies' tracking system since 2016 but struggled with driver engagement around safety metrics: fleet-wide Safety Scores were high (an average of 186, in the red) because drivers paid little attention to the scores despite the platform’s monitoring capabilities. Management needed a way to turn GreenRoad Technologies' data into meaningful behaviour change.

GreenRoad Technologies’ Safety Scores were then used as the basis for a simple incentive scheme — drivers earned 50p per hour spent in the “green” and competed for weekly leader bonuses — which rapidly changed behaviour. Within three weeks average Safety Scores dropped from 186 to 22 (green) and later trended to about 8, producing measurable improvements in driver performance, ongoing competition, and increased passenger safety and comfort.
