Big Bus UAE leveraged GreenRoad’s friendly competition to transform Big Bus UAE’s safety culture

Big Bus Tours struggled to improve safety in its Muscat, Oman operation where many drivers had “red zone” risk scores and resisted GreenRoad Technologies’ measurements. Management wanted to change the local driving culture and set an ambitious goal: make the Middle East Big Bus’ first 100% Fleet Elite region using GreenRoad’s Fleet Elite programme and telematics-based driver risk scoring.

Big Bus Tours implemented a “WhatsApp Competition,” publishing weekly GreenRoad Technologies risk scores to spark friendly rivalry between Muscat, Abu Dhabi and Dubai teams and coached drivers toward better habits. The results were dramatic: 100% of Muscat and Abu Dhabi employees and 97% of Dubai employees achieved Fleet Elite status; the region’s worst score fell to 4 events per 10 hours from over 40 previously (an improvement well beyond the targeted ~87% reduction), and there were 0 driver-caused incidents in the past 12 months.
