Acklams Coaches Uses GreenRoad, to Cut Fuel Consumption and Insurance Risk

Acklams Coaches, a family-run coach and bus operator, faced rising fuel costs, increasing insurance premiums and vehicle wear that threatened margins. After evaluating safety and telematics providers they selected GreenRoad Technologies, deploying the GreenRoad Full Suite including GreenRoad Driver Behavior to reduce fuel consumption, lower insurance risk and cut accident-related costs.

GreenRoad Technologies rolled out a driver safety program plus a bonus scheme tied to driver risk scores that encouraged safer driving and adoption. The results: minor bumps and bangs were halved, the average GreenRoad risk score fell from 20 to 5 with all drivers in the green zone, and fleet fuel for 51‑seater coaches improved from 8.5mpg to 11mpg (a 23% gain) while overall fleet fuel use dropped 10%. Acklams also gained better vehicle tracking and has realized insurance savings and eligibility for premium rebates.
