The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research Works with Greenphire to Remove Reimbursement and Travel Obstacles for Clinical Study Participants

The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) is a large, global clinical study launched to identify biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease and has enrolled more than 1,400 participants across multiple countries. Because participants often travel and must attend visits for years, slow, paper-check reimbursements created financial and logistical barriers that threatened recruitment and retention.

To address this, PPMI implemented Greenphire’s ClinCard reloadable debit solution in 2017 to automate payments and reimbursements. More than 1,100 participants across 33 sites now receive rapid, auto-loaded payments, which has streamlined site workflows, reduced administrative burden, increased participant satisfaction and improved retention.
