Weeks Medical Center - Customer Case Study

Weeks Medical Center, a 25-bed hospital in northern New Hampshire, needed 24/7 access to historical medical records while meeting federal EMR, CCD, and CPOE requirements. The organization also faced rising server sprawl, high power and cooling costs, and physical space and weight constraints. GreenPages Technology Solution helped Weeks Medical Center modernize its infrastructure with a virtualization strategy using VMware vSphere and vCenter.

GreenPages Technology Solution designed and implemented a new virtualized environment with upgraded HP ProLiant servers, a Dell EqualLogic SAN, and backup and monitoring tools. The result was a reduction from 45 physical servers to 6 VM hosts, support for 60 guest servers, about 250,000 kWh in energy savings, and more than 350,000 lbs of CO2 reduction. GreenPages Technology Solution also enabled CPOE and medication systems, delivered centralized control, and built in disaster recovery and redundancy so the hospital could recover within an hour or two.
