Stavanger kommune moves to a 50m² data room with Green Mountain

Stavanger kommune, a municipality responsible for public services for 150,000 people, faced challenges with its on-premise data center, including downtime from power and cooling issues. Needing to either build a new facility or find an alternative, IT manager Stein Ivar Rødland contacted Green Mountain to explore colocation solutions.

Green Mountain provided a solution consisting of a 50m2 data room at its SVG-Rennesøy facility and a disaster recovery setup at its TEL-Rjukan site. This allowed the municipality to avoid the capital expense of building a new data center and instead have predictable operating costs. The results included higher security, reliability, and the flexibility to smoothly consolidate with two other municipalities. Stavanger kommune is very pleased with the partnership and now has a highly reliable data center without needing to worry about infrastructure.
