Techstars, a global startup accelerator that routinely handles sensitive investor and fundraising communications, faced escalating threats from highly targeted email fraud such as business email compromise and look-alike domain spoofing while operating on Google Apps. To protect its fast-changing roster of companies and contacts, Techstars engaged GreatHorn and its cloud-native Inbound Email Security platform.

GreatHorn was deployed in 2015 and, even during proof-of-concept, detected and blocked a convincing look-alike domain spoof aimed at a senior executive, preventing a potential fraud. Using GreatHorn’s automated policy engine, user behavior analysis, and forensic reporting, threats were removed from inboxes and security teams alerted—measures that Techstars says have “significantly reduced” its risk profile while providing rapid deployment and continuous protection.
