Case Study: Global Pharmaceutical Company achieves faster response and accurate detection of executive and brand impersonations with GreatHorn

A GreatHorn Case Study

Preview of the Global Pharmaceutical Company Case Study

Global pharmaceutical stalwart treats chronic phishing disease with more accurate detection and faster response

Global Pharmaceutical Company, a publicly traded biopharmaceutical organization with over 20,000 employees, was inundated with phishing—about 10,000 attacks a month—including targeted executive and brand impersonations (notably ADP lookalikes) that routinely bypassed their legacy secure email gateway and Office 365. To stop these sophisticated BEC and domain-lookalike threats without disrupting mail flow, they evaluated and adopted GreatHorn, leveraging GreatHorn’s API-based integration with Office 365 and cloud-based threat detection services.

GreatHorn was deployed quickly alongside the existing gateway, using patented domain lookalike detection, relationship analysis, executive impersonation identification and Link Protection for on‑click URL analysis. During a three-week pilot GreatHorn surfaced 6,800 impersonation attacks that had passed the gateway, and over a recent month identified more than 30,000 phishing attacks missed by both the gateway and Office 365 E5. Remediation times dropped dramatically (one post-deployment campaign of ~200 malicious emails was removed in under four minutes versus hours previously), reducing exposure and operational burden while improving visibility and protection.
