Bailey House, a New York nonprofit that provides housing and services for people and families living with HIV/AIDS, relied on Excel to run its annual auction—managing procurement, catalogs, bidder numbers, table assignments, and reconciliation by hand. The manual process caused slow event-night checkouts, frequent errors, and multi-day accounting delays, so the event manager sought a technical solution.
They implemented Greater Giving Event Software (later adding Auctionpay terminals and professional services), which streamlined catalog creation, automated item packaging, sped guest registration and checkout, and enabled on-site printing and volunteer training. The changes improved staff morale, cut reporting turnaround to 24 hours, and helped Bailey House raise a record-breaking $800,000 at its 20th Annual Auction; the organization is now moving to the online version to further centralize operations.
