Atlantic Health System, one of New Jersey’s largest nonprofit health care systems, faced a major leadership transition in 2015 as new CEO Brian Gragnolati took over amid industry shifts and rapid regional growth. He wanted to protect the company’s strong workplace culture and reassure employees while continuing improvements in patient care and cost efficiency, with support from Great Place To Work and its Trust Index employee survey.

Great Place To Work’s assessment and employee survey helped confirm that Atlantic Health System’s culture remained strong after the CEO change, earning the organization an eighth straight Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For recognition. Under Gragnolati’s employee-first approach, patient safety also improved for a third consecutive year, including a drop in the federal Patient Safety Indicator 90 score across AHS hospitals.
