American Foods Group builds 800,000 s.f. LEED-certified beef plant with Gray Construction

American Foods Group, one of the largest beef processing companies in the U.S., selected Gray to design and build a new, state-of-the-art beef processing facility. The challenge was to create a large-scale plant that could process 2,400 head of cattle per day for their company, America's Heartland Packing.

Gray provided a design-build solution for the 800,000 s.f. facility, utilizing building information modeling (BIM) for the design process. The result was the world’s first LEED-certified beef harvest facility, which became operational in 27 months. The plant makes a major economic impact, contributing over $1 billion annually and creating more than 1,300 jobs in the region.
