Case Study: Christ’s Hospital strengthens alumni engagement and virtual community with Gravyty

Community-building tips from an independent school in the UK

Christ’s Hospital, a UK co-educational independent boarding and day school for pupils aged 11–18, needed a way to keep its alumni community engaged and active during the pandemic, when in-person events were no longer possible. With a small staff team, the school relied on Gravyty’s Graduway alumni engagement platform to maintain connections, grow participation, and support career and mentorship activity online.

Using Gravyty’s platform, Christ’s Hospital expanded social media and newsletters, launched regular digital digests and quarterly reminders, and mined its alumni database for speakers, mentors, and career contacts. The results were strong: online career talks drew 90–100 sign-ups, virtual events attracted significant live and on-demand participation, a Bletchley Park event brought in 115 live attendees and 263 recording views, and the school added 700 new online alumni between 2020 and 2022, with 50% of alumni indicating willingness to help and 70 pupils actively seeking mentorship.
