Build a 50,000-strong virtual alumni network: Learnings + advice from UCLA

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) wanted to strengthen alumni engagement and create a lifelong online community for Bruins that could support networking, mentoring, and professional development. Working with Gravyty, UCLA used its UCLA ONE digital engagement platform, powered by Graduway, to expand and re-think its graduate engagement strategy, especially as the pandemic made virtual connection more important.

Gravyty helped UCLA build a scalable online community with features that made it easy to mentor, volunteer, and share opportunities, while also supporting targeted content and cross-campus partnerships. The platform grew to 50,000 registered users in just over five years and reached 55,000 by June 15, 2022, with 93% overall return users, around 1,000 mentor/mentee pairs completed annually, and strong engagement from both alumni and students.
