Association of Professional Pipeline Surveyors launches certification program in 2016 with Grau & Associates

The Association of Professional Pipeline Surveyors, a group of industry stakeholders, faced a challenge in establishing a formal trade association to address a shortage of surveyors with expertise in natural gas pipelines. They engaged the vendor Grau & Associates to help them develop the association's governance, corporate structure, and member services.

Grau & Associates systematically guided the founding members through the process, including selecting a name, drafting a mission, determining corporate structure, applying for tax-exempt status, and creating a board of directors. The vendor then helped define membership categories, set dues, and develop an annual budget. The result was the successful establishment of the Association of Professional Pipeline Surveyors (APPS), which continues to recruit members and is now developing a critical certification program for pipeline surveyors.
